It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother Florence (Lee) Longpre on Sunday, March 7th, 2010 at Porteous Lodge, Saskatoon, SK. Mom was born in London, England on March 23rd, 1911. She was the third child of six children. Florence was an apprentice to Norman Hartnell, the English designer, and worked as a seamstress until her marriage to Thomas Smith and subsequently to Gilbert Longpre. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and moved to Radisson where she resided for 27 years. Florence will be sadly missed by her four children Maureen Chernick (Rob) of Phoenix, Tony Smith of Oregon, Sandra Casso, Santa Barbara and John Smith (Gail); nine grandchildren Brad Olson of Calgary, Gary Olson (Debbie) of Lethbridge, Michelle Olson (David) of Calgary, Marc Olson (Lori) of Phoenix, Gillian, Roseanne, Juliet of Santa Barbara, Tony and Tommy of England; seven great grandchildren Brina and Caylet of Lethbridge, Zachary, Chayse and Gracie of Phoenix and Tyler and Riley of Calgary. Heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and caregivers at Porteous Lodge for their wonderful care and also to Helena Peters and Tina Hessell for their help and concern for Lee and the immediate family. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before rail crossing). Family and friends may send condolences from the website www.hillcrestmemorial.ca. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Kenneth Scheirich.
