February 8, 1921  -  March 9, 2010

Henry Joseph Lehman

1921 – 2010

Henry Joseph Lehman, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at St. Paul’s Hospital on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.

Henry was born on February 8, 1921 in Bluebird, SK.  He grew up on a farm outside Mayfair along with five brothers and four sisters.  As a young man he enjoyed working on the farm, playing ball and spending time with his siblings.  Henry enlisted in the army and served his country.  After leaving the army Henry married Elizabeth Strohan and they moved to Saskatoon.  They had three children, Henry Jr., John and Carol.  Henry enjoyed a thirty-five year career working for the Hudson’s Bay Company.  In retirement, he enjoyed time at the family cabin fishing and boating.

Henry was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth; his parents, Charlie and Mary (nee Talarski); his brothers, Bill, August, Albert, Johnnie and Tom; and his sisters, Martha and Polly.

He is survived by his sons, Henry Jr. (Lucienne), John (Ruth); and his daughter, Carol Lehman (Brian St. Cyr); his sisters, Alice and Lil; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Henry always enjoyed a good laugh, had a keen sense of humour and was the life of the party.  He loved to dance and sing to German songs and be with family and friends.  His biggest love was being at the cabin and going fishing.

Now he is surely casting his rod into the lake and smoking his pipe enjoying the space.  We will miss you dad.

Vigil for Henry will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, Spadina Crescent East and 22nd Street East, with Rite of Committal to follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery.

Donations in Henry’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital 6th Floor Medicine Wing.

Our deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad.  We will always remember your dad cruising up to the boat house after coming back from early morning fishing, his pipe smoking away, he was a great man, and one of the pioneers of Pelican Point. Your family is in our thoughts.

Sincerely;

Watts family - Eunice, Trevor, Kevin, & Candace.
