Title: Farewell to an era

Comment: I want to send my love and condolences to the family.
Also, I would like to offer some memories and thoughts about my
Uncle Hubie. He was my Mom's kid brother and she always called him,
Hubie.
I loved him because he was unlike anyone else in my life. He was a tease,
a little bit rough and so much fun. When the Rawlinsons were building
their cottage I was a preteen and was invited to come and stay with the family on a number of occasions. I remember one time I drove up with Uncle Hubie. We stopped at a diner on the way up for a meal. I remember he said this would be a good place to stop because there were a number of trucks
parked outside. He said that truckers knew where to get a good meal!
Another family were also building a cottage next door. I remember the man's
name was Ted and in the afternoon, either Uncle Hubie or Ted would hunt
the other one up and ask the wife if the other could "Come out and play".
That meant ... Water skiing!!!!!  This is when I learned to water ski and it was
the highlight of my summer.
I always looked forward to times when my family would visit with Pat and Hube and the girls.
The passing of mom's younger brother is the end of an era. He was the last of that generation. It makes me sad to think that all those memories are
in danger of being lost.
Love from Elaine and family.
